Improvement in environmental, technical and economic performance
Heat recovery by combustion air preheaters are widely regarded as one of the Best Energy Efficiency Technologies due to use in industrial furnaces and boilers for their performance enhancing qualities. They reduce fuel consumption in this equipment by recovering heat from exhaust gases, and can be used with all types of fuels such as coal, gas, biomass, diesel, biodiesel, hydrogen.
The SICAPH preheaters designed by our company allow the transfer of heat from the outgoing combustion gases to the fresh air, which thus enters again towards the burner or combustion hearth.
The design of these heat recovery equipments has sought a balance of parameters, among which the following stand out:
Diesel or Gas Oil | Biomass and/or Wood | Natural Gas |
---|---|---|
Light Fuel | Pellets | Biogas |
Heavy Fuel | Coal | Hydrogen |
The fresh air circulates inside the pipes while the exhaust gases circulate through the smoke chamber.
The fresh air conduction tubes are of the finned type (equipped with serrated fins on the outside) which increases the turbulence of the exhaust gases and the heat exchange surface of the equipment.
The finned tubes of fresh air are configured in line and in compact blocks to achieve a high transmission coefficient and dramatically reduce the temperature of the exhaust gases.
The gas casing is made of a premium quality carbon steel sheet suitably reinforced and arranged to avoid sealing failures.
SICAPH air preheaters are fully assembled in our workshops, allowing precise quality control in accordance with our standards and design codes.
They are supplied finished with a protective anti-heat layer that prevents corrosion for many years.
The materials used in each SICAPH preheater are documented in the quality file that attaches traceability sheets and / or casting certificates.
All SICAPH preheaters, at the customer’s request, can be equipped with:
SICAPH preheaters can be adapted to any type of installation according to customer needs
All SICAPH preheaters, at the customer's request, can be equipped with an automatic cleaning, thermal insulation and instrumentation system
The general trend in the market so far has been to install economizers primarily over air preheaters. This is now often considered a mistake, since economizers can create certain inconveniences on the preheaters, especially when if they are not designed for the actual consumption of the boiler or when they serve in an operation with frequent starts / stops, or with frequent fluctuations in thermal demand, be it steam or heat.
Thus, in a large part of the economizers of the plants in which the boilers work periodically at low loads, condensation occurs associated with the decrease in the temperature of the gases. These condensations over time end up causing damage to the economizers and continuous repairs to them, causing their performance to drop drastically, with the economic damage that this entails for the customer. This problem is more common than usual, so in many plants the economizers have a very short half-life and their effectiveness is in question.
This problem does not occur in an air preheater, since the exchange takes place between the combustion gases and the air and there is always a flow ratio that prevents this phenomenon from occurring. The average life and durability of air preheaters is much higher than that of economizers in general, and is therefore one of the issues that must be taken into account when looking for an energy saving system in boilers.
Economizers are not
always more profitable!
The experience obtained to date in plants with continuous consumption such as paper mills or a certain food industry shows an amortization of the installation in less than 2 years. In any case, we advise you to consult our specialists about the estimated returns on investment for each specific plant.
One of the main additions that we provide in heat recovery facilities through air preheating is the installation of a F.G.R. to reduce emissions. This system is included as a complement to the installation of a JBD model hot air burner, which already incorporates the latest technologies in terms of NOx reduction. In this way, the sum of these two elements / systems results in NOx emissions with natural gas below 60 mg / Nm3, fully complying with the most demanding regulations currently established in the EU.
The advantage of this system is that with the installation of a single duct we achieve these results. That is to say, we take advantage of the installation of the preheater and the hot air ducts, to implement the F.G.R. system itself, with which we achieve that the system is truly ecological, apart from being efficient and, therefore, profitable.
If you are thinking of reducing your emissions and changing the burner for this purpose, think that this system can make your ecological investment pay off in a short space of time!
Profitability from the first moment!
