Non-refundable subsidies to improve the energy efficiency of Basque industry
With the aim of improving the energy efficiency of the Basque industry, the Basque government provides non-refundable subsidies to improve the energy efficiency until June 20 for the acquisition of fixed assets that contribute to promoting the environmental improvement of companies, with a limit of 1.5 million euros per beneficiary entity.
The Industrial Decarbonization Program is focused on improving environmental sustainability, through investments that allow decarbonizing production processes, such as the purchase of more efficient and low-consumption equipment and facilities to optimize industrial processes. The Program is also aimed at replacing or reducing the consumption of fossil fuels, through the use of green hydrogen or fuels from biomass, investment in waste heat recovery systems and the acquisition of digital control and consumption savings systems. energetic.
As a novelty, it will provide subsidies to make investments in new plants or process lines that do not yet exist, as well as to improve the air conditioning or heating systems of industrial plants and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through the use of raw materials. sustainable and/or secondary, the management or recovery of industrial waste and the replacement of fluorinated gases.
How to improve energy efficiency of the industry
Among the strategies for energy reduction in the industry, Reinva launches a series of strategic proposals for the reduction of energy demand in the industry, a challenge that has become an imperative to be able to advance the objectives of reducing the cost of supplying energy, minimize environmental impact and increase energy security.
The challenges take shape in energy dependence on imports, the volatility of hydrocarbon prices, climate change, the increase and obstacles to the internal energy market, but also in achieving high efficiency and high performance of the equipment and facilities.
The final energy consumption of the Basque industrial sector represents 37.2% of the total. In 2021, it reached a value of 1,830 ktoe, with an increase of 19.6% compared to the previous year. An overview shows that Basque industry increased consumption from all energy sources. Thus, electricity consumption increased by 15.8%; that of petroleum derivatives, increased by 15.6%; that of natural gas, by 22.6%; that of coal, by 53.6%; and the consumption of renewable energies, by 22.9%.
Although the industry has been one of the sectors in which actions aimed at improving energy efficiency have had the most impact as it is an intensive sector in energy consumption, it continues to be a strategic sector, with a high reduction potential. of final energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions, for which the authorities recommend incorporating the best available technologies in equipment and processes, as well as taking into account energy efficiency and the implementation of energy management systems.
Reinva
Reinva designs and supplies equipment for combustion and steam processes, such as industrial boilers and combustion systems, using innovative technologies with the aim of achieving energy optimization of combustion processes. At the same time, the company focuses on minimizing polluting emissions (CO2, NOx, CO, SOx and particles, among others). In addition, it is responsible for providing the most agile maintenance and after-sales service so that its clients’ generation and production facilities do not stop working.
